Today I am Actually Spinning
This is going on the wheel today. It’s from Funky Carolina, Lacy Lovelies colourway. It’s going to be a 2-ply, possibly for a lacy scarf. It’s a merino/tencel blend.
I spun these batts from Terra Bella Spun on Thursday and Friday, two skeins, about 7 oz worth of merino blended with rayon and some glittery sparkly stuff. Happy Spring colourway. The yarn matches my wallet and my Lexie Barnes bag perfectly, and all were bought at different times. I guess I like what I like!
Yesterday I spun and plied some shetland batts. I had previously dyed the top in shades of orange and red. This weekend I carded it up loose and fluffy on my Louet, with some gold angelina and some white and hand-dyed icicle. I spun it woollen, supported long draw. I have the other half of the fibre to card and spin, which will give me just over 8 oz. of yarn. It’s a heavy-worsted, so I’m guessing that each skein will give me about 150-175 metres. I’ll measure when both skeins have been spun and set.
I recently cast on for the Daisy baby cardigan, and I hope to finish it within the next couple of days. I’m knitting the medium size, but I’m playing kind of loose with the length of the body and sleeves, since I’m knitting my sweater yarn at a slightly looser gauge than the pattern calls for. I figure the sweater will be a bit bigger around, so to compensate I’ve added an extra half-inch in length to keep it in proportion. I’m almost finished the first sleeve, and it’ll soon be time to seam and knit the hood.
