Thank You

I want to say thanks to everyone who helped almost clean me entirely out of yarn! There are a few sport-weight skeins left and only 3 fingering-weight skeins left: I am the Eggplant, Chopping Broccoli, and I’m on Fire. Lots of spinning fibre left, though.

I want to thank all the ladies at our Scarborough SnB for making such a big deal out of me and my yarn and delaying my online launch because they kept cleaning me out of stock before I could finish my website.

I want to thank all my friends for encouraging me to do this and assuring me that my stuff doesn’t suck. I’m really happy I did. Thanks to Jeremy for the logo and for helping to wind endless quantities of yarn. Now I’m going to stop thanking people because I feel like a total hole.

Here is the new stuff! I got my new base yarns and I’m calling this one, Seasocks. It’s a familiar 2-ply blend of 70% superwash merino, 30% seacell. It’s so soft and shiny. I did a few experiment skeins the other day. It takes colour very differently from the regular Fingering Sock.

Getting Close

Over the last few days I have been glued to my laptop trying to get stuff done, and in doing so I spent a lot of time at the Canada Post website, trying to figure out what I need to do to get an account with them. I didn’t get much of an understanding, so I just went to the post office and asked. They handed me a pamphlet and told me to go home and use the internet.

Lysa with a Y asked in my comments if I’ll be selling online…I wanted to point out that I’ll ONLY be selling online. I’ll be selling whatever I can get dyed in whatever amount of time and let you know when I update the shop on this blog. On Monday I’ll have sock yarn and fibre for sale, but only in small quantities. Each of the colourways have only 1 or 2 skeins/braids available.

At the present time I’m only going to be shipping to Canada and the US. Shipping is going to be a flat rate depending on which country you’re in and Ontario residents are going to be charged 8% sales tax.

Back to work, I guess!

Welcome!

This is pretty much why I’ve been so busy lately and haven’t had much time to post. I’m opening a shop! I have a few more things to get ready and I hope to be open by Monday morning. I’ll be selling hand-dyed yarns and spinning fibre, as well as some of my handspun and I’ll be working on developing some knitting kits and patterns, too. I’m starting out with superwash merino sock yarn, but soon I’ll have a seacell blend and a merino/nylon blend as well.

Last night I did something really fun and went to see Stephanie Pearl-McPhee talk and sign books. I had a really great time. I went with Rochelle, and before the book signing began we went over to Needles and Knits where I actually bought cotton yarn on purpose. They had Misti Cotton and I couldn’t believe how soft it was. I bought one skein to make a chunky hat. I met a fun bunch of knitters there, and then we walked together over to the church where Stephanie was giving her talk. She’s a funny, fun person and I enjoyed meeting her a lot.

Let’s see…what else? Alex is starting school in about two weeks and he’s in the gifted program this year so he’s going to a new school. On a school bus. I’m crazy worried on the one hand, but on the other I feel stupid since he’s almost my height, has a deep voice and a moustache. I don’t think you’re allowed to worry about children with moustaches. Ahem.
