We had an interesting time last night. Natalie’s party was fun and I got totally hammered. Jeremy took a little nap near the end there because he had to work today, and so we ended up leaving her place after 3 AM.
We were almost home when we passed a car on the highway that had completely flipped over. There was no one else around, the car’s lights were on and the horn was blaring. So we pulled over and drove in reverse on the shoulder, to see if we could help.
Seriously, I was terrified. I had no idea if people were still in the car or what, if anyone was hurt; I had no idea what I would see. And Jeremy and I don’t have cell phones, so we couldn’t call for help. I had no idea what we’d do to help. I was really scared.
When we approached the car, the two passengers were already out. They were a bit younger than us. The girl was shivering so I gave her my coat. The guy kept searching through the car for his cell phone, so they could call 911. I flagged down another car, and they had a cell so Jeremy used it to call for help.
The two people looked okay. The girl had a bump on her head and they were both totally shaken and in shock. Apparently they had swerved to avoid an animal on the highway. It was so scary. But you know what? Airbags and seatbelts apparently work and these two were able to crawl out of their own car, mostly uninjured.
We stayed there until the ambulance and police arrived, and then we left. One of the cops gave me my coat back, since the girl was getting checked out in the ambulance. It was so strange. I just couldn’t believe it. Their car was upside down, all the windows smashed, it was just so surreal. We were there about an hour and then we came home. I am so glad they were okay.
It’s Natalie’s 30th birthday today. Crazy! Already? She’s my younger sister. It’s just all so weird. 30. 30!
Our wedding anniversary is on Monday. Three years! At the wedding, we had a couple of little disposable cameras on some of the tables for candid shots and afterward we stuck them in a drawer and I just found them last week. So Jeremy took them in for developing and we just got them back yesterday.
At the same time we got the cameras, I bought a frame from Target with pretty mother-of-pearl accents and I had planned to put a wedding photo in it, but I never got around to printing it out. The picture frame has been sitting on display all these years, showing off the picture that came with the frame. Some girl smelling a flower. Every time my mom comes over, she asks me of whom is the picture.
Most of the pictures that were developed yesterday didn’t turn out, either because they’ve been sitting around for years or because all the photographers were drunk. One came out really nicely, though, of the two of us that I had taken myself. And now it’s in the frame. And it only took me three years. Not bad!
