Fruity Pebbles 3-ply

Fruity Pebbles 3-ply

Spun from this Shetland top. 110 g, 221 yds, 912 ypp. 3-ply.

In other news, we got our first real snow. It snowed all night and all morning. Alex actually got a snow day from school since the school buses were canceled and he goes to school in a different town. It’s our first snow day ever. In all my years of living in and going to school in Toronto, we never had a snow day. Things are different up here, I guess.

Sleep, Please

Please?

I’m trying to get the insomnia under control but I’m having a hard time with it. It’s last night for me now, rather than this morning. I wish it was morning. I feel like spinning but I’m so tired I know my hands won’t work.

Tonight (last night) was our SnB and I worked on my Manos shawl. I’m almost finished. I’ve decided definitely to add fringe, which means I’ve got a few more rows to go and then I can cut up the rest of the yarn. Debbie has already finished hers! She wins! I totally wanted to win.

Tonight (last night) I wore my favourite handknit socks for the last time. The left heel gave way a few hours ago and the right heel is utterly transparent. They were Fleece Artist merino socks. I knit them in September of 2006.

I got my Ravelry t-shirt today (yesterday). I’m wearing it; it is now my favourite pajama.

Jeremy and I have been rotting our brains with a lot of television lately. Since I can knit or spin while watching tv I don’t feel quite as gluttonous. Reruns of 90210 have finally progressed into season 6 so now Kelly is destroying her life with cocaine. Robot Chicken rules my world. I Love NY may be making me stupider, but it’s totally worth it, and I’m not nearly as stupider as America’s Most Smartest Model. Keeping with the current theme of lowbrow entertainment, we’ve also decided to watch Nip/Tuck and began with the first season. Good character development is so unnecessary with storylines such as these. We’ve just begun season 3.

My other heel just gave. Good night (morning). Send zzzzs.

It’s Totally Squirrels

Goblin Mitten

I’ve almost finished the first mitten out of the Romney I spun. I love this wool. I’d love to get enough to spin for a sweater. The wool is really hardy; I fulled it in the finishing and you’d never know it but I ripped out the top of that mitten at least 5 times, trying to get the shaping and size just right. I think it’s indestructible.

In varmint news, the wildlife guy who “checked” our house is an idiot. The other day I stepped outside my front door, heard some noise to my right and turned just in time to watch two squirrels flip me the bird and enter my attic from someplace in the soffits. Natch.

Pictures After Dark

Jeremy was nice enough to build me a small lightbox using this tutorial. Now I can take pictures at night.

Earthy

Here’s a picture of my latest yarn, it’s about 98 grams of superwash merino. I dyed it a few months ago and finally spun it up. I haven’t set the twist or calculated the grist or yardage yet, but I am guessing it’s about 17 wpi.

Gourdy

This one’s some new sock yarn. I haven’t skeined it yet, but I will this weekend and it’ll probably be up in the shop on Monday.
