Today is Jeremy’s birthday and to commemorate his new aged status, he dashed out to buy registration stickers for our plates, pay a few bills at the bank, get me some citric acid and plastic bottles, and maybe if there’s time, he’ll get in a little laundry action for our upcoming trip to Ottawa this weekend. Birthday fun, it never stops!

Actually, we think maybe we’ll get into the wine later on and pretend we’re young and relevant by playing Rock Band. And since we got Rock Band and I have discovered that while I’m still not a very good singer, I’m actually not a very, very bad one! So…since my birthday is coming up in a month we thought maybe we’d pick a date in the middle and go out for karaoke to celebrate both dates. I have always wanted to sing karaoke but never got up the nerve. Jeremy is a rather good singer and when we were dating we used to go often, though I’d never sing. There’s a place near us that does karaoke on Thursdays, and I think that if I drink exactly the right amount of alcohol, I may be able to do it. Maybe. NO PROMISES. Don’t judge me.

So, we’re going Ottawa way to welcome a brand-new family member! Jeremy’s got three lovely nieces but now we’re going to meet his first nephew! I’ve seen the baby’s photos and he’s heartbreakingly sweet. Welcome, Ashton.

Heartache

Since they’re starting to arrive in people’s mailboxes, I can tell you now that I provided the yarn for Connie’s Pick Up Sticks Sock Club for February. The colourway is called Heartache. I was so excited to dye this up, and I hope everyone enjoys it. I’ve noticed that people have started stashing it in their Ravelry accounts!

Just in case you haven’t gotten yours yet and don’t want the surprise spoiled, I’ve hidden the photo below.

More FOs!

Monika, as usual, puts us all to shame with her mad skillz. She asked me to dye some superwash fibre for her a while ago, in silvery-grey colours suitable for a gift for her dad. She spun the yarn and knit the scarf and took beautiful photos.

Shannon finished spinning her coopworth in the Sweet Pepper colourway and I got to see it in person on Tuesday. It’s so beautiful! Can’t wait to see it knit up. She’s also knitting some socks for her daughter with my Fingering Sock in Blueberry.

Also, The Gadabout Knitter has finished spinning up the Coffee Caramel corriedale she bought, in a gorgeous 2-ply!

Last but not least, Tara has a half-FO in a single Embossed Leaves sock!

I just started a Flickr group for people to post what they make from Dyed in the Wool Handmade yarn and fibre, so if you’ve got a Flickr account and have made something, please join and post your photos to the pool.

Edited to add: My apologies! I completely forgot to mention Kimbelina’s new Seafoam Lace Scarf! I did a custom dye for her on laceweight yarn she provided since I don’t carry any laceweight in the shop (yet), and it’s just beautiful. She brought it to SNB and it’s just awesome.

Edited some more: I can’t believe I forgot to mention Chelle’s Mini-Clapotis! (Scroll down past the old people necking.) She knit the whole thing from one skein of Fingering Sock, approx 4 oz. It’s really nice!
