Knitters’ Frolic ‘08
This year I went to my first DKC Knitters’ Frolic ever, and I went as a vendor. This was what my booth looked like in the morning, right before everyone showed up to shop.
Here’s my table. My next-booth-neighbours were Wendy of Unwind and Ruth of Surly Knits. Ruth sells HitchHiker wheels, as well as Baynes, Louet and Schact. So she had a Ladybug on her table, right behind my table, and I was forced to look at this Ladybug ALL DAY LONG until someone mercifully bought it, because dudes, I cannot afford it!
I did manage to afford a few things, though. I got a little Lexi Barnes bag that I can’t stop looking at and wearing around the house, some beautiful fibre from the Sweet Sheep – dyed by Michelle herself as well as a couple by Funky Carolina. I got the LB bag and a skein of STR Heavyweight from Lettuce Knit, in Rocktober. From Unwind I got some Kureyon sock, with which to knit something that is not at all in any way a sock. From Surly Ruth I did NOT buy a Schact Ladybug, because someone else beat me to it dudes, I told you I cannot afford it! And she’s gettting another one in next week. She so evil! Actually, Ruth is great and mentioned she’d like to start a spinning guild in Newmarket, and I’m up for that anytime.
My SNB peeps came early and cheered me on, which was so great. I finally met Michelle in person, as well as Erica, my Ravelry friend! I also got to meet Amy Singer and Jillian Moreno. And I made some new friends and some business contacts, including the founders of Artisan Knitworks in Michigan. And I have to thank my friends Nicci and Aaron who helped me out so much with getting me bags and helping set up and tear down my booth. And thanks to Jeremy and Natalie, who helped me work the booth all day, giving me time to shop!
Now excuse me, I have to go to Oceanwind Knits and buy the yarn I didn’t have time to grab yesterday! I couldn’t make up my mind, Lori’s stuff is all so great.
