Happy Married!

The Bride

Natalie and David got married on Sunday. Congratulations! I took this photo in the limo while we were on our way to the ceremony. There are a few more photos on Flickr but I still have lots more to edit and post.

Batts, Brides, Booze and Bits

I’m going to start making some batts to sell in my Etsy shop: http://ditwhandmade.etsy.com. I’ve been dyeing up some merino this week to use for that, and I finally got some fibre reactive dyes to use on cellulose fibres, so there will be some of that going on in the near future, too. I’ve also been regularly uploading handspun yarn to my Etsy shop, with success! I’ll be adding more today, and more again after the weekend.

I’m currently working on a project for The Craft Lounge. I’m making up some handspun scarf kits for their holiday event. The kits will consist of approximately 8oz of really soft, textured handspun and a simple, reversible scarf pattern. I’ll be dyeing those up tonight and spinning them over the next week or so.

My sister’s wedding is almost here, it’s next weekend! Tomorrow night we’re heading out to the bar to get her loaded, which should be a lot of fun. On Tuesday I have to go out to buy my outfit for the wedding. I recently went to the doctor and found I needed to take some antibiotics. I’m a few days into taking them and they are having the lovely side-effect of clearing up my skin! I’m prone to occasions of adult acne, so I’m thrilled at the prospect of going to Natalie’s wedding with a clear face!

Let’s see, what else? Starbucks has replaced their gingerbread latte with a ginger snap latte. It’s similar in flavour, but I actually like it better. The sprinkles on this latte are actually bits of candied ginger. They fall into the latte and the candy part melts, providing extra flavour. This is nice until you get to the bottom of the cup and the remaining ginger bits swim up to greet you. By this point you’ve forgotten that they’re in there and it’s really startling to find pieces of something trying to float into your mouth when you sip your coffee. By “startle,” of course, I mean “inadvertently induce gagging.” I’ll pass on the sprinkles next time, yuck.

Today Alex brings home his mid-term report card for first sememster. He should be here any minute…

Best Coffee Ever

I have friends in high places. The friends are Freakgirl and Gagglefrak, and the high place is near a Trader Joe’s! I had this coffee last winter during a visit to NJ where they hooked me with it and I’ve been wanting it ever since. As soon as it became available this year they picked some up and sent it over. Their appreciation package is in the mail. No, really!

Gingerbread - Handspun Yarn

I’ve also been swapping fibre goodies with some friends from Twitter. I sent out some batts and got batts in return. The yarn above I spun with fibre I got from Melissa at Moustache Rides, but I was too impatient to take a photo of the batts because I loved them and had to spin them right away. They were very similar to these.

Swap from RawFishDesigns

This yarn is the result of fibre from Laila at RawFish. She sent some great colours and I supplemented her fibre with a bit of my own to get a bigger skein.

Pants Party - Blended Batt

I carded this one the other day and debated putting it up for sale, but in the end I carded up a co-ordinating batt and spun them both together into this:

Pants Party

As soon as I get the yarns set I’ll be listing them in my Etsy shop.

And I’m still waiting on goodies from Cloudlover, Funky Carolina and 100% Philistine Made. I love swaps!
