A Little Slow

So, I happen to be the victim of a serious lack of motivation lately. This has got to be one of the worst feelings in the world. I sit on the couch thinking about all the things I could be doing if I could just work up the drive to get started! In my mind I declared 2009 to be the year of Getting Things Done, much like I decided 2008 would be, but it hasn’t exactly worked out that way.

I took a break from dyeing yarn and fibre at the end of the year which turned into a longer hiatus than I meant it to! I did a couple of custom and wholesale orders but that’s it, and now I need to get myself back into it. I’ve been knitting a bit too, just little projects. I’m trying to spin more, but I need to clear off my bobbins and right now I’m in the middle of turning my house upside down looking for the final ounce of some lavender merino/tencel that I’m almost finished with!

The Craft Lounge

Earlier this month we took a short trip to New Jersey to visit our friends, and I finally got a chance to visit The Craft Lounge, where some of my yarns are sold. What a beautiful place! It’s run by my friend Susie, her sister Kathy and their friend Jen. I wanted to buy everything but I restrained myself to some handmade cloth-covered magnets for my fridge. On our way there, Debbie and I stopped at Sweet Avenue Bake Shop where she picked up these to share with everyone there:

I made you a cupcake, but I eated it

I see on their blog that if you can show them a cupcake tattoo, you get a free cupcake!

Over the past week, Alex has had exams at school and he found out his grades today. I must say I’m a very proud mom right now! He got the highest marks in his class for geography and English, and the second highest in science! Alex had a rough start this fall, getting used to the workload of high school, but he really pulled it together. Congratulations!

Happy New Year 2009

Christmas Bokeh

A new year, a new blog post. I guess I didn’t realize my last post was way back in November! I have taken a somewhat inadvertent break from fibre-related endeavors…it seems I needed some time away to do other things.

We spent Christmas at my mom’s house, as we usually do. I brined and roasted a fresh turkey this year, and I think I’ll definitely go out of my way to order a fresh turkey from now on. I always do the turkey and the stuffing, while Natalie and my mom make the other sides. So good!

Ornaments

Once everyone was up the next morning, coffee and breakfast in hand, we opened our presents. Alex made out like a bandit, including a few new DS games which made me happy because I used my Christmas money to get myself a DS! I’ve been playing Chrono Trigger ever since.

Yesterday I spent the day getting some wholesale yarn ready to go out, and today I’m relaxing with my Wii. So far, 2009 is pretty nice.
